2019 TAP Talks

August 2019

Date: August 27, 2019
Topic: How Nonprofits Can Connect With Schools
Description: Vitalyst Health Foundation and School Connect partnered to hold this TAP Talk.
There are many organizations who serve schools in many ways, yet knowing how best to engage with schools and districts can be difficult. School Connect, an organization that helps build partnerships by engaging communities and collaborating with community partners to support local schools, hosted this talk.  In this fun and inspiring TAP Talk, attendees learned School Connect’s model of networking, training, and coaching community partners to build strong, sustainable relationships. A topic covered based on feedback directly from Vitalyst partners, attendees learned best practices as community partners to strategize a collaborative plan with school principals and staff for schools’ successes.

Topic: Collaborating for Impact: How Coalitions Can Drive Transformational Change
Description: You work every day on some of the most daunting challenges your communities face. At the same time, you may question whether today’s strategies can create lasting, significant change. Why do some social change efforts achieve transformational results, truly improving population-level outcomes and changing systems, while others only make incremental progress? During this forum, attendees were able to:

  • Build deeper understanding about how coalitions can make transformational change and inspire leaders to take action.
  • Hear about local experiences of transformational results that demonstrated this type of change.
  • Apply the concepts learned during the forum to their own current coalition work.
