FY 2024 - Grants & Capacity Building
In 2024, Vitalyst demonstrated its commitment to responding to community needs and fostering organizational growth through a diverse range of grantmaking and capacity-building activities:
Discovery Process
Our open-door Discovery process continued to facilitate community partnerships, with 261 Discovery intake forms received and processed. This included projects sponsored by our affiliate organization, the Technical Assistance Partnership of Arizona, reflecting our ongoing efforts to explore and support new collaborations.
Medical Assistance Grants
Vitalyst’s Medical Assistance Grants saw significant impact as 13 partners completed the first year of their three-year grant cycle. These grants provided essential support across several areas:
– Vision: 1,730 touchpoints, including eyeglasses, exams, and screenings.
– Hearing: 235 touchpoints, covering hearing aids, ear molds, visits, and transportation vouchers.
– Heart/Lung: 1,670 touchpoints, including visits, screenings, blood pressure machines, and glucometers.
– Substance Use: 248 individuals received support as they entered treatment programs.
Technical Assistance Grants
Vitalyst awarded 35 Technical Assistance Grants, providing capacity-building support to various partners. Each grant enhances organizational capabilities through consultancy and coaching.
Spark Grants
Eleven partners received Spark Grants to support their planning efforts toward systems change. These grants encourage innovative approaches and strategic planning for systemic improvements.
Systems Change Grants
Our Systems Change Grants were promoted through the #SystemsChangeSeries communications plan. The grant cycle began with a virtual information session, which resulted in 84 Letters of Intent (LOIs) being submitted. Ultimately, five partners were selected to receive funding for transformative projects.
Place-Based Collaborative Grants
We funded four Place-Based Collaborative Grants, supporting initiatives in areas such as the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Tohono O’odham Nation, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Copper Corridor, and the Maryvale area of Phoenix. These grants focused on fostering collaborative efforts within these communities.
Advocacy & Public Policy Capacity Building Grants
Fifteen grants were awarded under the Advocacy & Public Policy Capacity Building category. These grants addressed various critical issues, including workforce development, school-based health, immigration and refugee resettlement, early childhood education, criminal justice reform, dental coverage expansion, housing, tenant rights, and Food is Medicine.
