St. Luke’s Health Initiatives’ 2015 Innovation Grant funded partners are:
- Cultivate South Phoenix (CUSP), receiving $125,000 to transform vacant lots into productive urban gardens and farms through a food hub for production & distribution. This improves local access to fresh and healthy foods, enhances the capacity of local growers to process and distribute produce, develops healthy systems and policies, and creates a business model for sustainability of urban gardens and food hubs.
- Arizona Community Action Association, receiving $125,000 for volunteer implementation of a statewide Living Wage Initiative to reduce poverty which is a major determinant of health. The initiative recruits, certifies, recognizes, and rewards employers paying a living wage of $14.88/hr.
